When Martinus was eight years old, he told his parents he wanted to be a real estate agent. It all started when his father received a job offer in another city and the employer sent over the local newspaper’s real estate section. Martinus spent days studying the listings on the floor of the family livingroom, comparing locations and values until he found what he believed was the perfect home for his family. They didn’t end up moving after all — but Martinus never forgot that feeling. Today, he’s living the dream he discovered as a child.
For more than 17 years, Martinus has been deeply involved in the real estate world through a variety of professional roles. He founded and led a marketing agency that specialized in branding, launching, and selling residential and commercial developments. His firm also produced community events such as the Hamilton 24-Hour Film Festival and Novemburger, while expanding into specialty media and an indoor billboard network. After selling most of the business, Martinus and his wife, Nina, successfully redeveloped several real estate projects in Hamilton. He also created a series of educational city tours, leading more than 275 people through Hamilton, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Cleveland, and Minneapolis to explore different approaches to urban revitalization. Before going full-time into real estate, he spent some time in the corporate world as a marketing and communications executive for a major Ontario financial institution.
Named Senior Vice President of Sales at Sotheby’s International Realty in 2021 — the company’s highest honour — Martinus has achieved nearly $250 million in sales over the past five years (2020-2025). Now leading the Hamilton office of Corcoran Horizon Realty, he helps clients buy, sell, and invest in residential and commercial properties across Hamilton, Halton, and Niagara.
A passionate advocate for cities, architecture, and community, Martinus brings energy, creativity, and integrity to everything he does. When he isn’t with clients or spending time with his wife and two children, he enjoys exploring the world, fitness, reading nonfiction, and connecting with friends over coffee.
